RFE/RL, VOA Partnership Boosts Georgian Broadcasts

(WASHINGTON – May 7, 2014)  RFE/RL’s Georgian Service, known locally as Radio Tavisupleba, expanded its broadcasts to 18 hours today, via FM transmitters leased from Radio Green Wave, the Service’s longtime broadcast affiliate in Georgia. RFE/RL executives say the expansion on Green Wave’s nationwide network of 16 transmitters will dramatically increase the reach and impact of its programming in this vital Caucasus market.

BBG provides critical health reporting training in Tblisi, Georgia

Thirty four journalists, journalism educators and communication officers participated in an August 16-18 seminar on crisis health reporting hosted by the Broadcasting Board of Governors at the Ilia State University in Tbilisi, Georgia. The BBG Seminar on Avian Influenza, Other Pandemic Diseases and Disaster Preparedness featured lectures, roundtable discussions, group work, case studies and hands-on social media platform sessions for reporting on influenza and natural disaster issues.
