WASHINGTON- The Broadcasting Board of Governors, as well as other leading international broadcasters and broadcasting unions, are welcoming new steps taken by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) to address harmful interference with satellite transmissions, including cases of deliberate interference.

On World Cyber-Censorship Day, RFE/RL Cites Success Amid Challenges


Yesterday, March 12 was World Day Against Cyber-Censorship. Media-watchdog Reporters Without Borders (RSF) marked the day by releasing its newest “Enemies of the Internet” report, which includes the top five “spy” states that conduct systematic online surveillance resulting in serious human rights violations. Those countries include Iran, Syria, China, Bahrain and Vietnam.

International Broadcasting Bureau Director Richard Lobo and Voice of America Director David Ensor met with their international broadcasting colleagues from six other nations recently in Berlin to discuss and promote information freedom.
