The Office of Internet Freedom provides education and training activities for citizens and journalists around the world in order to create awareness of internet freedom and the threats to it. OIF’s education programs also publicize the availability of anti-censorship technologies and provide training on the safe use of these technologies.
With the continued global increase in internet use and the upswing in censorship and propaganda activities, stakeholders must stay abreast of the dynamic landscape of internet interference through participation in international seminars, workshops, and conferences. OIF plays a unique role in this burgeoning field, filling knowledge gaps on internet access as a human right and identifying threats to this access.
OIF provides training for journalists on the use of communications technologies with a focus on robust security, tracks best practices in privacy and digital encryption, monitors censorship and surveillance techniques, and evaluates anti-censorship technologies.
