For too long – 537 days –Khadija has been separated from her family and friends and prohibited from serving the Azerbaijani people with her investigative reporting. I welcome her release and I hope that it is an indication that change is coming to Azerbaijan when it comes to press freedom.

Voice of America journalists beaten in Pakistan and Iraq

“I am appalled that these VOA journalists, who were only doing their job of reporting accurate information, were beaten and harassed by security forces,” VOA Director Amanda Bennett said. “Intimidation only generates an opposite effect. Crimea Realities chief says ban won’t stop website
