OCB to air original documentary on Alan Gross in commemoration of Internet Freedom Day

January 18 marks Internet Freedom Day, and as part of this celebration the Office of Cuba Broadcasting (OCB) will air the special Alan Gross: The Complete History.

The documentary presents a candid conversation between TV Martí presenter, Karen Caballero and Alan Gross, the American who was imprisoned in Cuba for five years after he was arrested for providing internet access to the Jewish community in Cuba. He was released as part of a normalization of relations between the United States and Cuba.

For the first time, the former U.S. contractor speaks in detail of his arrest, the treatment he received while imprisoned in Cuba, his cellmates, and what it means that his release was linked to the release of Cuban spies by the American government.

Other interviews include Gross’s wife, Judith, who recounts the family’s suffering; Rolando Garcia, Gross’s former cellmate and now a U.S. resident, who describes his experiences; and Senator Patrick Leahy who details the U.S. government’s efforts to free Gross.

In addition to presenting the complete story of Alan Gross, the documentary delves into the challenges confronted by journalist Karen Caballero in order to cover the arrest of Gross and his subsequent imprisonment. The documentary is narrated by, Ileana García and journalist Ivan López-Muñiz.
Alan Gross: The Complete History will air on Wednesday, January 18, 2017, at 9:00 PM EST on MIRA TV (Channel 18 Direct TV) and will broadcast simultaneously on Radio Martí, Martinoticias.com and via Facebook.
