UNESCO/LINGUAMON Cultural Diversity Conference
Alexandria, Egypt — Nov. 28-29
The Development and International Media Training unit accepted an invitation by Linguamon-House of Languages and UNESCO to participate at the Third Global Seminar on Linguistic Diversity, Globalization and Development (28-29 November 2010) in Alexandria, Egypt. We assigned Senior Development officer Gustavo A. Win to represent VOA on this event.
The conference is part of a multi-year effort over the past few years urging the recognition of the world’s diverse languages.
With support from the UNESCO Department of Public Information, Linguamón-House of Languages and Roberto Marinho Foundation from Brazil, the Bibliotheca Alexandrina hosted this global seminar to initiate dialogue on the importance of media, broadcasting and new technologies for linguistic diversity.
