دعا الرئيس المصري حسني مبارك مساء الثلاثاء إسرائيل والفلسطينيين إلى قبول وقف فوري لإطلاق النار لفترة محددة من أجل إفساح المجال أمام نقل المساعدات الإنسانية إلى أهالي قطاع غزة وإتاحة الفرصة لمصر للتحرك من أجل وقف نهائي لإطلاق النار فيما توقع نظيره الفرنسي نيكولا ساركوزي رد فعل ايجابيا سريعا من إسرائيل. وقال مبارك في مؤتمر صحافي مع ساركوزي الذي عاد إلى شرم الشيخ في ختام جولته في الشرق الأوسط إنه يطرح مبادرة محددة لاحتواء الموقف.
