Radio Free Afghanistan Covers Surprise Obama Visit

When President Obama paid a surprise visit to U.S. troops in Afghanistan on March 28, Radio Free Afghanistan stood apart from all other local media outlets with its comprehensive coverage. The Afghan Service not only reported the substance of the President’s remarks but obtained interviews with officials from both the U.S. and the Afghan government to provide context. The Service was also the only media outlet in Afghanistan to provide a forum in which ordinary Afghans could voice their opinions about U.S.-Afghan relations.
