Radio Marti Interviews Retired General Barry McCaffrey
Radio Marti interviewed Retired General Barry McCaffrey, former head of the Southern Command, former U.S. Drug Czar, and currently a CNN contributor. General McCaffrey, who favors improving ties with Cuba, was scheduled to visit Havana this month. As he explained to Radio Marti, he cancelled his trips after the Cuban government’s criticism of President Obama at the Copenhagen Summit. He also said that the Cuban authorities have lost the chance for closer ties with the U.S. and that the leaders of Cuba’s future will be the ones taking positive steps to improve the political crisis and steer the nation closer to the United States.
