Threats to Journalists: Hong Kong

  • In 2005, while seeking confirmation of story regarding a clash between armed police and protesting villagers, that resulted in the killing of as many as 20 villagers, Ding Xiao, a stringer for RFA, received a threatening call telling her that she should stop working on the story. The caller said that he knew where she worked, and could easily get to her. The government later claimed that only three persons were killed.
