Today is a great day, but it is only one step in a long fight for press freedom in Azerbaijan. We remain committed to informing, engaging and connecting the people of Azerbaijan in support of freedom and democracy, and we look forward to celebrating more press freedom victories like today’s.
For too long – 537 days –Khadija has been separated from her family and friends and prohibited from serving the Azerbaijani people with her investigative reporting. I welcome her release and I hope that it is an indication that change is coming to Azerbaijan when it comes to press freedom.
