Hurricane Preparedness Training Workshop

Two dozen journalists from Jamaica participated in a workshop on hurricane preparedness organized by Brian Armstead of the VOA Office of Development. The project was funded by the U.S. Embassy in Kingston.

The Jamaican Government’s Office of Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management, the National Hurricane Center in Florida and the military liaison office participated in the workshop. Journalists learned to prepare and report on wind and water disasters as well as the role of the government and international entities during such disasters.
